Overview
The Flying Electron Transistor Adapter Board 4 Channel Low Power is designed to allow easy switching on
and off of small devices from a microcontroller. The 4 channels of the FE_TRANS4_LP make it ideal for
controlling small unipolar 5V stepper motors with no additional hardware needed.
Example of Use for Switching +5V device
Step 1 - Connect device's +5V wire to constant +5V of Terminal Block.
Step 2 - Connect device's GND wire to Switched GND of Terminal Block.
Step 3 - Connect IO header to microcontroller's IO Port.
Step 4 - Run microcontroller program to switch power to device on and off.
Example of Use for Switching +12V device
Step 1 - Connect external power supply's GND and FE_TRANS4_LP's GND together.
Step 2 - Connect device's +12V wire to external +12V power supply.
Step 3 - Connect device's GND wire to switched GND of Terminal Block.
Step 4 - Connect IO header to microcontroller's IO Port.
Step 5 - Run microcontroller program to switch power to device on and off.
Example of Use for driving +5V Stepper Motor
Step 1 - Connect 4 stepper motor phase wires to Switched GND of Terminal Blocks.
Step 2 - Connect 2 stepper motor common wires to constant +5V of Terminal Blocks or external power supply.
Step 3 - Run microcontroller program to switch stepper motor coils in sequence.
Features
Terminal Blocks for device hookup
Easy hookup of devices using terminal blocks. Each terminal block provides constant +5V and a switched
GND.
Easy Microcontroller Interface
Designed to interface with a standard microcontroller IO port. Only 4 bits of the IO port are needed, 1
bit for each switched channel. Output a logic high to the bit to switch the channel on, output a logic
low to the bit to switch the channel off. LED indicators will light up to show which channels are
currently switched on.
LED Indicators
LED indicator will light when channel is active.
High Power Switching Transistors
Each transistor channel is capable of switching up to 400ma of current.
Diode Protection of Switching Transistors
Protects transistors from induction spikes when switching inductive loads such as motors, coils, and
relays.
Power Header
Extra power connections allow easy daisy chaining of power to other adapter boards or components.
Dimensions
• 2" x 1.25"
• 2 mounting holes spaced 1.75" on center for easy mounting to a chassis
