Overview
The Flying Electron LED Adapter Board is designed to allow easy use of LEDs by a microcontroller. The FE_LED8 features 8 bright green LEDs along with an external LED header to connect remotely mounted LEDS in parallel with the 8 internal LEDs.
Example of Use
Step 1 - Connect 10 pin ribbon cable from IO Port Header to microcontroller's IO Port.
Step 2 - Run microcontroller program to control LEDs.
Example of Use for External LEDs
Step 1 - Connect 10 pin ribbon cable from IO Port Header to microcontroller's IO Port.
Step 2 - Connect external LED to External LED Header, no external resistor is needed, just the LED.
Step 3 - Run microcontroller program to control LEDs.
Example of Use for Debugging IO Bus
Step 1 - Remove existing signal wires from microcontroller's IO Port.
Step 2 - Connect existing signal wires to FE_LED8's 2nd IO Port Header.
Step 3 - Connect 10 pin ribbon cable from IO Port Header to microcontroller's IO Port.
Step 4 - Run existing microcontroller program as before, LEDs on the FE_LED8 will light when the signals are logic high.
Features
Buffered LED Driver
LEDs are driven from a buffer circuit and not from the microcontroller's IO Port. Excellent for debugging open collector signal busses.
Bright Green LEDs
8 Bright Green easy to see LEDs
External LED Header
Allows easy connection of remotely mounted LEDs which will be driven in parallel with internal green LEDs.
Hint: A great place to find pre-wired LEDs that plug into the External LED connector is the power and hard drive LEDs on old computer cases.
Easy Microcontroller Interface
Designed to interface with a standard 8 bit microcontroller IO Port. The LED inputs are buffered, so no additional load on the microcontroller's IO Port signal lines.
Dual IO Ports
Designed to make it easy to insert in existing systems for debugging of signal lines.
Safe for ISP Programming
No need to remove this accessory when performing an ISP Programming operation.
Dimensions
• 2" x 1.25"
• 2 mounting holes spaced 1.75" on center for easy mounting to a chassis
